Walter Sobcek is a French band. We all currently live between Paris, Berlin and Miami. We meet as often as possible in Paris or Berlin to write and produce our music. It's early days but so far we have worked on remixes for French bands Housse de Racket, You!, plus NightWaves and the new single from Chilly Gonzales. In terms of our own tracks; we have released a cover of Hall & Oates' She's Gone that did quite well on the blogs last year, plus Je Me Souviens. A French language single that seems to be picking up some airplay here in France.
2. How did you come up with the name "Walter Sobcek"?
During a trip in LA, we were hanging out at a huge party and met a guy in the bar. He was around 50 and started telling us the wierdest stories about his life in LA in the mid-80s. He went on for two hours about the starlets, the porn industry and even wierder about murder. Basically, the story went along these lines... The guy came to LA from New York to try and make things better with his, then, girlfriend. He never did find her but he met a lot of amazing people along the way from drug dealers, to porn stars, to big name actors etc... We didn't manage to get his name, we never worked out if what he told us was true. However, it gave us the idea to tell his story in our music.
The name Walter Sobcek is a combination of our family names and is very close to John Goodman´s character in the movie "The Big Lebowski". There seemed a connection between this name and the LA story.
3. How do you describe your sound?
It´s difficult for us to explain. It would be more up to you to define it. We just try to mix all our influences to make it sound unique. These range from 70s and 80s soft rock to the classic new wave era, the first explosion of French Touch and current electronic music.

5. Have you got plans for the 2011?
We will be releasing a brand new single in the spring called "Miami". We will produce our own video for it and collaborate on the creative direction for all the visuals. We will also be working on some new remixes and then writing tracks for a 5 track EP for the summer. So, we´ll be very busy in the studio.
